“ Lovely restaurant and lovely atmosphere. Just be careful with a portions because the maximum is such a big portions. Lovely place and very fresh food. Only one thing I would suggest is a bit more seasoning in the butter or on the chips as an option. ”
“ Came here on a Friday evening. You put your name down and the kind waitresses will let you know the estimated wait time. We were told 30 minutes but was around 20-25. We ordered the catch of the day and the cod and chips. We ordered some small sides such as peas, pickle bread and butter roll (the latter was forgotten but I won't dwell on that). The food arrived quick and fresh. Up there with one of the best fish and chips I've ever had. The unlimited chips were a bonus. We ordered their choc ice cream because you just can't end a meal without something sweet. Didn't come with my flake but again really happy with the food and friendly service and highly recommend anyone to come here. ”
“ Busy busy busy! Get here early to secure a table. We came around 6pm and there was already a 40 minute wait for a table, lucky for us, we were the only table of 2 in the queue! We were sat by the lovely lady with white hair, who was super friendly and charismatic. Our server was Izzy who was also super helpful and friendly! We ordered 2 regular cod and chips and it was lovely and fresh! The chips were unlimited but we were full with the ample portion we had with the fish. Definitely recommend! ”

“ I've known about this place for years, but never had a chance to visit, always thought its overated. What a mistake I made. I finally managed to get some takeaway and WOW. Definitely best battered fish i ever tried in my life. ”
“ The food from Chez Fred’s is absolutely delicious. My favourite fish and chips by far. I also had onion rings and they were amazing. Fish was cooked perfectly with a lovely batter. Wonderful chips and mushy peas finished the meal off awesomely. Fully recommend. ”
“ A fabulous upscale chippy with daily special and not just the regular cod and plaice. I had the Cornish Hake and my partner had haddock. Batter was light and crispy. Fish was fresh and flaky. Chips was not soggy. We ordered mushy peas and curry sauce to go with our meal. Both was delicious . Highly recommended. They care about what they serve. Staff was efficient and friendly. Seating to wait for takeaways. It’s very busy and you can see why. Not pricey. ”
“ Fantastic Fish & Chips! Went to Chez Fred as I saw this is very highly rated. Went there for lunch and they had a great lunch offer : If you're feeling hungry go for the Lunch Special, which is medium Prime Cod & Chips and this includes Mushy peas, roll and butter and a choice of drink (tea/coffee/soft drink) for 14.50. Not only was the food amazing but it was really good value for money. ”
